The Komplet K-TS 40 is the larger of Komplet America’s two mobile trommel screeners — a tracked, diesel-over-electric unit producing up to 120 US tons per hour in three fractions (fines, mids, overs). Unlike vibrating scalping screeners, the K-TS 40 uses a slowly rotating perforated drum to gently tumble material — making it the right tool for topsoil, compost, mulch, green waste, mixed C&D fines, and wet, sticky, or cohesive material that vibrating screens cannot handle efficiently. A Mitsubishi diesel engine drives an onboard 380V genset, and that electricity powers everything — hopper, trommel drum, and discharge belts — through a fully electric drive system that minimizes wear, hydraulic service intervals, and operating costs. Available with two interchangeable drum configurations (126″ × 55″ or 171″ × 43″), the K-TS 40 weighs 25,353 lbs and fits inside a single 40-foot shipping container — built for landscape supply yards, composting facilities, municipal landfill operations, and recycling facilities.

The Komplet K-TS 40 is a mobile trommel screener used to separate and size topsoil, compost, mulch, green and yard waste, mixed C&D fines, and wet, sticky, or cohesive material on-site. It is built for landscape supply yards, topsoil producers, composting facilities, plant nurseries, site contractors, recycling facilities, municipalities, and landfill operations. As Komplet America’s larger trommel, it handles serious daily volumes — up to 120 US tons per hour — in three finished material fractions: fines, mids, and overs.
Trommel screeners and vibrating scalping screeners do different jobs. A trommel uses a slowly rotating perforated drum (typically 10-30 RPM) that tumbles material along a slight downward incline — the gentle rolling action is ideal for moist, sticky, organic, and fibrous materials. A vibrating scalping screener like the Kompatto 5030 uses a sloping deck with high-frequency vibration to shake material across the screen — ideal for dry crushed aggregate, clean stone, and dry recycled concrete aggregate (RCA). Use a trommel for topsoil at field moisture, compost, mulch, mixed C&D fines, and excavated soil. Use a vibrating scalping screener for dry aggregate, RCA, and gravel where high vibration is more efficient.
The K-TS 40 produces up to 120 US tons per hour in three fractions, depending on material type, moisture, drum configuration, and feed rate. Production is most consistent on topsoil, compost, mulch, and mixed C&D fines that match the drum’s perforation pattern. The K-TS 40 is the right machine when production needs are 80 to 120 tph — under 80 tph, the smaller K-TS 30 is more cost-effective; above 120 tph typically requires either a larger trommel beyond Komplet’s compact lineup or paired multiple machines.
The K-TS 40 is available with two drum configurations: a 126-inch by 55-inch drum and a 171-inch by 43-inch drum. The longer 171-inch drum provides more screening area for difficult material — wet topsoil, fibrous compost, mixed C&D fines — and is the right choice when material spends more time in the drum to achieve clean separation. The shorter 126-inch drum offers better mobility and reduced footprint when site space and transport flexibility matter more than maximum throughput on difficult material. Drum configuration is selected at order — Komplet America’s team can advise on the right configuration for your application.
The K-TS 40 uses a diesel-over-electric architecture. A Mitsubishi diesel engine drives an onboard 380V genset, and the genset’s electrical output powers every functional component — the feed hopper, the trommel drum rotation, and the discharge conveyor belts. This is different from a hydraulic-drive trommel (where the diesel engine directly powers hydraulic pumps that drive each component) and different from a pure-electric trommel (where grid power drives everything). Diesel-over-electric delivers significantly lower wear on drive components, fewer hydraulic service intervals, and lower operating costs per ton versus hydraulic-drive trommels — while keeping the off-grid mobility of a diesel-powered machine. Electric drive is the foundation of the K-TS series cost-effectiveness.
Both are mobile diesel-over-electric trommel screeners with the same 3-fraction output (fines, mids, overs), but they target different production levels. The K-TS 30 is the smaller unit — up to 60 cubic meters per hour, lighter, and built for tight-access conditions or smaller composting and topsoil operations. The K-TS 40 is the larger unit — up to 120 US tons per hour, with two drum configuration options for handling more difficult material at higher throughput. Choose the K-TS 30 when daily volume is under 80 tph or when mobility into tight access is the priority; choose the K-TS 40 when volume is 80 to 120 tph or when serious daily topsoil, compost, or C&D fines processing is the application.
